Balakalotsavam :
An yearly event fashioned in lines of youth festival,
to encourage and motivate young talents. Children of
BKS members are divided into five groups on age basis
to compete in more than 36 different items.
Top point scoring boy and girl are awarded “KalaPratibha”
and “KalaThilakam”
Keralotsavam : For
members and spouses with the objective of bringing out
their latent talents. Spread over one month, these
competitions are held for more than 30 items. Kalashri”
and “Kalartana”awards are given to top achievers
in gents and ladies categories.
Vishu, Easter,Onam,
Navarathri, Vidhyarambham,Eid,Christmas,
Keralapiravi,Iftar and New year : All
festivals are celebrated in great pomp and style by
Kerala Samajam. Onam celebrations finale is by an
Onasadhya for more than 1200 people. Christmas and Eid
dinners are also arranged.
Renowned scholars are invited to perform
“Vidhyarambham” every year.
Coaching classes :
Shuttle Badminton coaching classes and Youth
Leadership programmes are conducted every year for our
children during summer vacation.
Sahithya Puraskaram :Constituted
in the year 2000, outstanding literary personalities
of Kerala are honoured by conferring the Bahrain
Keraleeya Samajam Sahithya Puraskaram consisting of
Rs.25,000/-cash,a certificate, and a plaque.
Charity Fund :
Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam is the only expatriate club
in Bahrain with a budgeted amount for charity
purposes. The charity committee is selected by the
Annual General Meeting and includes Ex-officio office
bearers from the Executive Committee. Funds are
distributed to the needy (Sick/destitute) residents in
Bahrain.
Fund raising programmes :-Fund
raising programmes are held every year to amass funds
for charity, building fund and day to day operations.
Artists from India are usually invited to attract
sponsors and audience. Sometimes raffles
are also held to boost ticket sales.

Weekly Events
Sahithya vedi and Prasanga Kalari :
Held under the ageis of the Literary wing, these
session are meant to inform, know and discuss the
contemporary trends in world of literature in general
and Malayalam in particular. The
Prasanga Kalari or Speakers forum is a venue for our
members and associate members to learn about the art
of public speaking and debates.
Toastmasters :
Affiliated to the Toastmasters international, Bahrain
Keraleeya Samajam toastmasters conduct the public
speaking programme in
English for Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam members and
Youth Leadership for programme for children.
Malayalam Classes :
Every Wednesday,Malyalam classes are conducted for
children of Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam members to teach
the youngsters our mother tongue. Now more than
180children are attending these classes,
conducted by our dedicated members voulunteering as
teachers.
Musical Club:- Inaugurated this year the musical club
is meant to further and rejuvenate the interests of
members in classical music. In additional classical
concerts and programmes are being arranged by the
club. |

Samajam subscribe for all leading Malayalam news
papers and periodicals. Also Samajam has a good
collection of literary works of renowned writers in
Malayalam, Hindi and English. The library and reading
rooms open daily from 16.00hrs to23.00hrs |
